We rebuilt a staircase in Lane Cove, building the form work, pouring the concrete and fitting bullnose formed stone stair treads.
The form work went up first, since it sets the shape and the rise of every step before any concrete goes in. The concrete was poured into it, and the bullnose formed stone treads went on once the structure was in. A rounded bullnose edge is easier on a foot and holds up better at the nose of the step than a square arris, which is where treads tend to chip.
The whole job took a month, start to finish.
