We built a decorative external screen for a pool in Wollstonecraft, after the customer asked for a bespoke privacy option that would tie into the leafy greens of the suburb.

The frame is 50mm x 50mm powder coated black square posts, supplied through APS aluminium, concreted into the ground to carry the vertical load. The horizontal post went on after that, and stainless steel chains hang the decorative sheeting from it. The sheets are compressed plastic, about 12mm thick and 2000mm high x 900mm wide, hardened and weighing about 20 kilos each. Chains rather than a fixed panel let each sheet hang freely, and stainless steel suits a spot that stays wet around a pool.

The finished screen is a high, blended privacy barrier that still filters in winter sun and lets the summer cooling breezes through.
