Building Repairs and Property Maintenance Greenwich

Greenwich sits on the Lower North Shore, and a lot of the housing is units in larger complexes along the Pacific Highway, many with paved balconies. Foreshore Works looks after building repairs and property maintenance there, and the work is mostly the small, practical jobs that keep a unit comfortable.

We carried out a shade cloth installation on the paved balcony of a unit in a large complex on the Pacific Highway in Greenwich, mainly to protect the outdoor furniture from leaf and spore debris.

The shade cloth came from Bunnings and went up with the Pryda Shade Fix system. A fixing system like that is what holds the cloth taut and in position, so it does the job of keeping debris off the furniture without sagging.

It also took the heat out of the balcony on hot summer days, and the shade over the paving helped keep the inside of the unit cooler as well.

The job was completed seven months ago.

Local context

What building repairs and property maintenance in Greenwich actually involves

In Greenwich a good share of the work is on units in large complexes, where the balcony is the main outdoor space and the job is making it usable. Most of it is about protecting what is already there and keeping the place comfortable through summer.

Leaf and spore debris on balcony furniture

Where a balcony sits under or near trees, leaf litter and spores settle on outdoor furniture and are hard to keep ahead of. Covering the area over the balcony cuts that down.

Heat on paved balconies in summer

A paved exterior balcony in full sun holds heat, and some of that carries into the unit. Shade over the balcony takes the edge off hot days and helps keep the inside cooler.

We recently put shade cloth over a balcony pergola on a unit in a large complex on Pacific Highway, Greenwich, installed with the Pryda shade fix system. It was done mainly to protect the outdoor furniture from leaf and spore debris, and it also gave the paved balcony shade on hot summer days, which helped keep the inside cool. That was about seven months ago.
